Getting lost in Venice

That’s what I have been doing for the past 9 days.

After our honeyMoon in Paris last year, I promised Moon we’d go to Venice, his favorite city in the world. To be frank, I didn’t get his seemingly weird obsession with the city–something he’d cultivated while living there during college. I’d visited Venice when I was around 14 years old and thought it was pretty, but, surely, there were better places to go? A place neither of us had been? Thailand, perhaps? However, marriage is all about sacrifices and I let Moon choose Venice. It was…magic. Romantic. Haunted. Unlike any other European city I’d been to in recent memory. We, of course, ate our weight in pasta, seafood (that’s what Venice is known for) and everything else the city offered us. We also did a little side trip to Bologna because we’d never been. I have so many pictures to edit and scribbles to sort through before I post, but I promise the wait will be worth it.

Stay tuned…

i once went to italy alone in college, and got myself REALLY lost in venice late at night. i’d booked a hotel room for myself online, and i had a really hard time finding it. at the time, it was really annoying (lugging a suitcase around on those cobbled streets, cold and hungry!), but looking back, i feel like winding through all the small side streets and roads was so magical, and i learned so much on that trip, finding my way around. anyway, that cemeted my love for the city – it’s so magical! i cant wait to read about your culinary delights 🙂
