A basketful of naughtiness from Buford Highway Farmers’ market

I really shouldn’t be allowed inside Buford Highway Farmers’ Market. I have no self-control. Check out the get-well groceries I bought my friend when his back went out.
Pictured: Packages of cut up Mexican style veggies and fruit (mango, jicama, and pineapple) with chile and limon, locally made Russian cookies with condensed milk and fruit, a tub of easy spread President, Mexican conchas (the shrink-wrapped ones taste freshly baked), two containers of half-sour pickles, freshly baked rye bread, hard Russian salami, sour Polish cheese, and white Mexican American (that’s me!) cheese.

This new treat I got from the Eastern European deli was especially drool-worthy.

Wafers layered with condensed milk. I am a fan of anything caramel and whoa.

In related news, check out this awesome video profile of the market’s loveable owner, Harold Shinn, done by Southern Foodways Alliance as part of their Buford Highway Field Trip.

Man, I got some of that wafer stuff from the Russian Deli last time I was there. It is awesome.

They also had out all of these little taster thing for their meats. I didn’t know what the hell I was eating but it was really freaking tasty. I want to buy so much of that stuff. I think the EE section is the best part of their remodel.

And it is something that the Super H Mart doesn’t have at all. Enough to swing me the way of BHFM over Super H.
