I have to admit I have a bit of a crush on Ira Glass. His radio show, “This American Life,” is one of my favorite ways to pass the time on the weekends. Glass and his staff seem to find the most interesting stories from around the country that are perfectly edited, insightful, often hilarious, and always touching. If you don’t have it on your podcast list, add it now!

The latest installment is the annual “Poultry Slam” episode about everything poultry. The episode includes a funny piece by Jonathan Gold, the role of poultry in Francois Mitterand’s last meal, and other poultry-related stories.

You can listen to the full episode for free on the website or itunes–just search through the podcasts. There is also a television version now that starts its second season on Showtime this March. You can download season one through itunes or the “This American Life” section on Showtime.com.

I love “This American Life” and have for the past two years.

Do you also listen to “The Splendid Table?” What are your thoughts?

I like “The Splendid Table” as well–nice range of topics. I listen to many (probably more than I should) food-related podcasts. NPR’s “Food” and “Hidden Kitchens” podcasts are other faves of mine.

I agree. Ira is yummy. Five sandwiches, dang chica. Yep, we latinas sure can pack it away. I just downloaded Season One of the TV series. Good deal at $10.99.
