The Lobby Lounge at the Ritz Carlton: Buckhead
My little sister and I do everything together but we’d never gone to tea. I was desperately in need of a relaxing interlude, so I convinced her to meet me at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead for their afternoon tea service on Friday. You have your choice from a fixed price menu depending on how much you’d like to eat and drink. There is also a kids’ menu if you’d like to take the little ones out for some culture. We went with the “afternoon tea” option, which includes your choice of tea from an extensive selection, a platter savory sandwiches and access to pastry buffet (which includes scones).
Pastry buffet in front of a roaring fire
I was a bit disappointed that the items did not come on the traditional tiered stand, but beggars can’t be choosers. All of the items we received (especially the pastries) were delicious and the perfect portion size—their chefs are very talented. The scones were quite smaller than I am used to, but they were still nice with the clotted cream and strawberry jam and paired nicely with the “green passion” tea I chose for my service.
Verdict: An
overall nice experience and worth the price. I would go back and definitely grab the seats in front of the fire on those cozy couches. Reservations are required and business casual attire is recommended. The downtown location also offers afternoon tea if that is closer to you.Anyone else out there like high tea? Still looking for more places to try. Leave a comment if you know of a spot.

Grand Hyatt Atlanta does a tea thing called Hy-Tea.
The Faded Rose Tea Garden in Chamblee does high tea, and they serve their little sandwiches on a tiered tray. I am not a expert on High Tea, and the only Tea I like is Green Tea. But I went to a Bridal Shower there once and it was nice.
There were some things that were eh – ok, but it was there that I had my first cucumber sandwich – and man was it good.
They have a website:

It is very “southern” and kitchey with decoration that looks like a Laura Ashley pinata exploded and was filled with decor and angels – but it is High Tea.
i took my grandmother to Vintage Tea in Roswell a few weekends ago, but i am afraid that when i was there they said that january 26th would be their last day open unless the business was bought.

Our group of girls used to frequent the Four Seasons for afternoon tea. I haven’t been in a while, but it was always fantastic. And I do favor the bright, airy, open feeling of Four Seasons to the Ritz.
I, too, love the afternoon tea at the Four Seasons. I love the atmosphere and attention. The tea selection is wonderful and they do serve us on tiered platters. Don’t forget if you have allergies to call ahead. My friend can’t have gluten (in wheat) or soy and they bakes bread & pastries JUST for her. Fantastic service.
A group of friends and I gather for high tea every December. We’ve tried many locations and found that the Four Seasons has the best service. We’ve had mixed success at the Ritzes, the Hyatt, and the Intercontinental. We’ve also tried the Farmhouse Tea Shoppe in Dunwoody.
