Panahar: Atlanta

I have to admit my first visit to Panahar really did not excite me. It took me months to return and I am so glad I did. The Boyfriend was craving some Indian and I suggested Panahar as an alternative. We went and he loved it. We went a week later because we enjoyed out meal so much. We took a bottle of wine (no corkage fee if you want to bring some) and settled into a table. Mirza, the owner, came over to his thing. He always helps every table order…it definitely makes the place stand out in terms of customer service. We started out with some of the halim which is a spicy vegetable and lentil soup. So healthy and filling. I declare this the best bowl of soup in Atlanta.

Looks so good. Thanks again for posting such good looking and tasting treats for us stay-at-home cooks. I love goat and fix it at home fairly often (like 10 times a year), I make a curry out of it about half the time I fix it. I sometimes substitute lamb for goat in my curry recipes but with a vindaloo I would use goat. Thanks again.

I’m glad you did a revisit to Panahar and finally had the experience so many of us have had there. I’m headed there tomorrow night & can’t wait!
yup..that’s da best restaurant ever..and the chef of that restaurant knows what he’s cooking and he’s da best chef EVER…THE FOOD TASTE LIKE IT CAME FROM HEAVEN..10/10
For halim, which is traditionally less of a soup and more of a stew with lentils, barley, meat (goat) all together in a very creamy finished product — try Luqma, on Scott Boulevard. It’s excellent and very reasonable. The kebabs are good too. Chicken 65 is better at Zyka but for any “tandoori” craving, I always head to Luqma.
I agree that the food is very tasty, much better than average here, but in my experience the service was horrendous.
We waited and waited and then waited some more for everything (to be seated, in between courses). Couples that came in before and after us were treated much better. It is obvious that they don’t like mixed race couples.

Just want to add that they really only do the buffet for lunch, so if you are looking to explore the menu, go here for dinner.
That said, the buffet was good when I went, not too greasy and well spiced.
