One Star Ranch

RESTAURANT INFORMATION:

I was watching GPB a couple of weeks ago and they had this program called “Kissed by Fire” which was pretty much an homage to art of BBQ in Atlanta. They featured many restaurants like Williamson Bros., Daddy D’s, One Star Ranch and many others. Well, my better half is a big BBQ lover. I knew, after watching that, that we would be eating a lot of ribs in the near future. We started off close to home and went to One Star Ranch for some of those beef ribs. They are truly gigantic. I ordered the onion rings and the brisket with green beans and baked beans. My dining companion ordered the beef rib and chicken plate with Brunswick stew and corn (pictured). The onion rings were a bit soggy but the seasoning was very good. They need to be crispier. The brisket was like I like it. Tender but with some chewy smoked bits. Good sauce that was a good balance of sweet, spicy and tangy. Mediocre sides. Nice slab of Texas toast to sop up the sauce with. The chicken and beef rib were equally good. Nice flavor and tender meat. The Brunswick stew was very poorly made and corn on the cob is hard to mess up. The prices were a bit high for BBQ but the portions were immense. Parking is available for free in the lot of the abandoned Rio Bravo.

    Well,
Daughter and I went for lunch last week…
Parking is not free in the Rio Bravo lot…if you “see” the big sign: Put your little dollars (folded up just so!) into the slots!
    I love baby back ribs…
Their sauce was wonderful…”sweet, spicy, and tangy” perfectly describe the sauce; however, the ribs were the worst I have ever had in Atlanta.
    They were so tough!
They did not even compare to Houston’s…sorry!!!
    or even Mick’s home delivery…
    BUTthe service was outstanding….
wish I could remember her name! Truly, outstanding!
and I have to say , it’s the first time I’ve ever eaten Brunswick Stew with a fork! It really was nice!
    Fries were decent/good…
Second time for me at One Star Ranch….
I don’t think another one is in the “stars”!

I am emphatic in my claim that one star is the best bbq in atlanta. the trick is you can only get the BBEF RIB. i have no idea why but the pork ribs are terrible. if you ask the waitress what to get they will tell you the beef rib with no hesitation.
i had my buddies in town and my friend called me the next day when he went back to Texas and said he was still thinking about the beef rib!
BG is right about the brunswick stew- not good. However the jalapeno cornbread is a winner. Also the BBQ chicken is really good and not dry at all. I always get the beef rib / chicken combo. don’t order anything else!!
