Nostalgia on the road: Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n’ Biscuits

I have fond memories of my parents taking my sister and I to Bojangles before we went to Hebrew school when we were kids. Not so kosher, but oh-so-good. I loved Bojangles’ breakfast biscuits, but most of the locations I used to frequent have closed. So, it had been a good while since I had eaten one of their delicious biscuits. That was until last week when we were driving up to North Carolina to see Moon’s family for the holidays. Moon knew a stop was in order the minute I spotted the franchise’s name on one of the highway exit signs.

As you can see from the sign above, Bojangles is not your typical fast food restaurant. They (allegedly) make everything from scratch, their biscuits are never more than 20 minutes old and their fried chicken is made with fresh birds. We went crazy and ordered too much food, which left us in a serious food coma on our lengthy drive. But the gluttony was worth the quick trip back to my childhood. Delicious.

Ahhh, the cajun chicken biscuit…I miss a place that serves biscuits all day and on Sunday.

I love Bojangles!! I knew about them from my travels in North Carolina and was happy when they expanded here and opened the location in Forest Park which isn’t too much of a trip. The one in Norcross off I-85/Indian Trail is a quick detour when I’m up in Gwinnett too. My only complaint is that the local spots don’t serve Cheerwine like they do in the Carolinas!

Bojangles or Popeye’s? I’ve tried them back to back and I prefer Popeye’s chicken, but Bojangle’s biscuits.
