MF Sushi Bar: Midtown

It had been way too long since I had eaten sushi and my friend, Warner had a birthday, so we went to celebrate at MF Sushi. I normally go to Taka, because I find the quality good (if not better than MF), but it was Sunday and we headed to Ponce to kill the craving. I put in our order and found that many of my favorites, like their chawan mushi and baby river crabs, were unavailable. Maybe it was stupid to go on a Sunday, but we were there and hungry. We started with some unfiltered sake (a new favorite of mine) and an assortment of sashimi. Everything was quite fresh except for the otoro which seemed a bit watery and flavorless. The Spanish mackerel was especially tasty. We then had the pressed sushi, which was incredible. I love the scallions and dense, packed rice. A bite from a small plate of fish was intense with lemon pepper and not in a good way. All and all a good sushi experience. I wish they would get those crabs back on the menu though.

Try Sushi Nami up in Alpharetta for your beloved crabs (great little treats aren’t they?!). The restaurant has great sushi. None of the see-and-be-seen attitude of the in town spots. Enjoy!

Thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely try it soon. I love those little fried crabs!
