Killer kitchenware: Chickin Feed products

posted on March 10, 2008 at 4:12 pm
I recently came across this cool new product while shopping around Harris & Clark at Serenbe. Although I am not a parent, I am a big supporter of anything that aims to teach kids about eating well–that is why I am such a fan of the organic garden at E. Rivers Elementary. Chickin Feed is a new line of products “dedicated to improving the knowledge and health of children (affectionately known as chickins) by providing families with simple, fun and effective nutrition tracking products & ideas.”

The Chickin Feed tracking boards retail at $30 (click on image for closeup). They are made of 24 gauge galvanized metal and designed to hang on your fridge. Each board comes with a set of magnets and it is recommended you buy one board per child. The boards allow families to track a day in the life of a child and are customizable based on cultural eating differences.
Another cool product is Chickinware dishes. The dishes outline the correct portion sizes and combination of foods kids should be eating. It does not seem that the ptoduct is available yet, but check the Chickin Feed’s website for updates.
Also look out for the Primer: “recipes & menus and shopping & pantry tips developed by our Chef Chick, Leslie Hudson (a professional chef and mother of two) and Stephanie Ricker (our own Vice Chick in Charge and mother of two) with some great smoothie tricks up her sleeve. And Coach Randy Brookins, an elementary PE coach, is developing some great family activities to keep your chickins active.”

Hi! Thanks for the blog. Glad you found us in Harris & Clark – great store. We are very excited about Chickin Feed and happy to be catching on! We’ve been working hard on The Primer due this Spring. Most excited about the new addition of renown Chef Sheri Davis to the Chickin Coop. Looking forward to her yummy recipes. Take Care
