There is no need to travel all the way up to Buckhead to get your H&F Bread Co. fix. The Aurora Coffee in Little Five is now serving a small selection of pastries and biscotti alongside their dangerously delicious coffee drinks. Sweet.

I love those almond croissants and the cinnamon twists. They are divine!

I know it’s your job to write about food and drink, but I’ve got to say that Aurora’s coffee drinks are pretty atrocious. For the coffee they use and the equipment they have, they are doing a horrible job. The only positive aspect of their existence is the fact they’ve got multiple convenient, comfortable spaces. If they actually train their people how to prepare classic espresso drinks, I might sing a different tune. In other news, Octane and Method baristas just took the top three spots at the Southeast Regional Barista Championship…

Have to agree with Anonymous above, with the caveat that Aurora does do a great job with the iced coffee. They cold brew it the way it should be done. During cold months, I don't go anywhere near the place.

The H&F pastries ought to be worth checking out, though.

I was so excited about the pastries! The first time since I saw the sign when I went into Aurora (the Va-Hi location), I chose a cranberry scone. While the flavor was good, the texture was a bit too crumbly for me. I guess I could try a more traditional pastry like the almond croissant, but I may just head to Alon’s for that and stick with Aurora’s coffee (which I like very much).

Totally off-topic, but have you ever eaten at City Grill? I passed it yesterday while I was downtown, and I thought it looked like one of the most elegant spots in the city.

Octane is my normal spot, but I don’t mind a coffee from Aurora now and then. I’d rather hit them then the Starbucks next door!

And Ciambellina, I have not eaten at City Grill.

The new pastries are a VAST improvement over the old ones. And I think there are some great baristas at Aurora. Chandler Rentz was actually a judge at the aforementioned Barista Competition.
