Imari Sushi: Buckhead (CLOSED)

I normally end up at Taka when I want sushi. I can walk there and I love his food (especially that short-rib). But, everyone needs a bit of variety. I had heard that Imari Sushi had some pretty good sushi so we decided to go check it out on Saturday night. The decor is a bit spartan and the strip-mall location is kind of weird. We walked in and it was practically empty. The server/hostess ushered us to our seats and was very gracious throughout the whole meal. The sushi was fresh but there was not as much variety as I normally like. They did have abalone sushi (they were out) which I have been dying to try. The fish was fresh and well prepared. The yellowtail (one of the most under-rated fish in my opinion) was a stand-out. However, I felt like something was missing and I could not put my finger on it. The menu also had a variety of homestyle Japanese favorites including soba which I am always on the look-out for. I will go back for lunch and have a bowl soon.

Pros: Fresh fish, good service, open for lunch.
Simple decor, limited sushi menu, high prices for a strip-mall sushi location.

If you like Japanese food, you must try Haru Ichiban in Duluth. I’m Japanese and I say it’s the best in metro Atlanta.
