Huey’s: Atlanta (closed)

RESTAURANT REVIEW:
We went for brunch the other day to Huey’s because it was close and we got a late start. We easily got a table and plopped ourselves into a booth. As a kid, my parents would take us on special Sundays for beignets and hot chocolate. I used to love biting into those pillowy doughnuts smothered in powdered sugar. Divine. I ordered some for us to share and got the shrimp and grits as a main. The beignets were just as good as I remembered. Maybe not the best you’d get in New Orleans but great for Atlanta. My shrimp and grits was just okay. The grits were great but my shrimp were hopelessly overcooked and chewy. I would like to try and order again and see how the shrimp fares because this is one of my favorite dishes. My date got an order of steak and eggs. They enjoyed it thoroughly. The chicory coffee was kind of bland but no matter. The beignets made the meal worthwhile.

I read this book last year. A great book helps me think in new ways and regard my actions with new clarity. This is that sort of book. In light of recent horrific events, this book offers a path forward, through the thicket of racist thought and deed. https://t.co/cDd8DmIDzA
