Hae Woon Dae BBQ: Atlanta

RESTAURANT REVIEW:
Have been coming here for years and I never get sick of it. If you are interested in trying something different or just looking for some solid Korean fare, this is the place to go. The standards like bulgogi and kalbi are great and the accompaniments are still the best and most varied I have had in any city. If you are more adventurous, try the stews which can range from simple and soothing to spicy broths that will make your throat burn (in a good way) for hours.

Hae Woon Dae’s service is horrible. I am a Korean American and this place is falling apart, other new Korean restaurants are a lot better in taste and manner.
I agree. I did a follow up visit a few weeks back and I am just sick of the rude service and the food has gone downhill as well. You’ll find me at Hanil Kwan or Chosun OK for BBQ these days.
I have now tried both Han Il Kwan and Hae Woon Dae. I disagree with the 2007 posts, the service has been excellent. Let me try to compare this restaurant with Han Il Kwan. I have only tried the barbecue at Han Il Kwan. As for the banchan, I really think it is much better at Hae Woon Dae. Especially the bean sprouts. I also have had much better experiences with service at Hae Woon Dae and love their stews and bibimbap. I will have to try their barbecue, but I am more of a bargain diner.
Hae Woon Dae is ok, but the food isn't as good as Honey Pig, even if Honey Pig isn't wood fired. The cuts of meat were so much nicer at Honey Pig, and the kimchi wasn't all fibrous stem pieces like we got at Hae Woon Dae.
Hae Woon Dae has a hospital cafeteria atmosphere with their green tables, while Honey Pig was much nicer with a lot of attention paid to creating a welcoming environment.
I'd go back to Hae Woon Dae, but only if I was in the neighborhood and didn't want to take the time to drive to Honey Pig.
