Food find: Poilâne bread at Belly General Store

No you are not misreading the title of this post. Belly General Store in Virginia Highlands is importing the bread from the famed boulangerie in Paris’ Latin Quarter. The loaves are fully cooked in the wood-fired ovens in Paris and arrive each Thursday at Belly. I ordered one for this Thursday. Bread is notoriously tempremental when it travels. So, I doubt this will be as good as the real thing I’ve enjoyed so many times in Paris. But it is still a great treat to have it locally. Lionel Poilâne passed away some years ago, but his daughter, Apollonia, has taken over the reigns of the Pain Poilâne empire. If you aren’t familiar with Poilâne’s legacy, check out this short video interview with Poilâne before he passed away.

omg i can’t believe it’s coming to atlanta! please let us know how it is!
haven’t they had this for years? at least, they did several years ago and maybe stopped for a spell.
A friend told me they used to sell it, but stopped until recently.
How much does a loaf cost?
