Food find: Okra chips

Check out these “Okra chips” I found near the cashier at The Fresh Market the other day. As much as I love okra, I was wary of eating it this form for some reason, but these were delicious. I am wracking my brain for a comparison to some other snack, but these “chips” are pretty unique. In terms of flavor, they are similar to wasabi peas. They are incredibly crunchy, slightly spicy and a great snack if you need a little more green in your diet. You can buy them at the store or online–the store is cheaper since the quantities are smaller.
Here is the product information from The Fresh Market website:
The okra is vacuum fried (resulting in less fat than traditional frying methods) and lightly salted for the ultimate snacking sensation! Our Okra Chips are a new product and quickly becoming a customer favorite. I also discovered the okra chips on my last trip to The Fresh Market and bought a small bag. I love fried okra, pickled okra, stewed okra and every other form I have tried. Okra chips are now added to that list. As large as they are, I don’t feel that I have had much to eat after consuming one. That, in itself, it amazing.
Didn’t want or expect to love these, but I did!
I served these at a party recently. They were an absolute sensation. Very addictive.
Be warned, it’s hard to stop at 10.
Greatest snack item ever? Quite possibly.
Wow! The okra chips are AMAZING! I absolutely love them! The only thing I don't love about them is the price…$9.99/lb!
I bought a bag of the okra chips last night at Fresh Market..I know I ate more than 10! I LOVE THEM!
