Food find: H&H bagels at the Quality Kosher Emporium

posted on December 14, 2008 at 1:17 pm
We’d just finished having a shwarma at Pita Palace, which was more packed than I have ever seen it. And decided to walk over to the Judaica store to check out the menorahs. I spotted this sign as we were making our way past the Quality Kosher Emporium on Briarcliff Road.

I excitedly ran into the store to see if this could possibly be true. The owner informed us they get them par-cooked from H&H in New York and them bake them in the store every morning except Saturday when they are closed. They have a variety of flavors and our first taste was good. Chewy, dense and slightly sweet on the crust.

I won’t lie to you and tell you they taste just like the ones you’d get at the New York stores, but these were good. I bet they are even better fresh out of the oven first thing in the morning.

javamonkey in Decatur uses H&H as well.
(or they used to under the last owners).

I used to live on West 72nd Street in NYCity. H&H bagels were my favorites. How much do they charge here in ATL?

Quality Kosher Emporium is now closed, but the former owner of that store opened a new store in the same location called The Kosher Gourmet. They, too, offer freshly baked H&H bagels in the mornings Sunday-Friday, and that's not all. They also now have some wonderful cooked foods in their deli case. The food is very good and made in a very presentable manner. It's definitely worth a look. By the way, Jim, the bagels are $0.90 each.
