Floataway Cafe: Atlanta

posted on June 14, 2006 at 4:19 am

This is one of those places that I deeply regret not having visited earlier. My friend E. suggested we go over there for dinner last week and I am so glad she did. I don’t know why I had never been here before. I guess it just seemed out of the way. It is located in an unassuming warehouse near Emory University. The restaurant manages to be warm though. The staff was very welcoming and the menu was fabulous. I ordered the fried zucchini blossoms ( pictured above) which were stuffed with ricotta and herbs. They were perfectly fried…dry…just like they should be. So good. My friend ordered a raw summer squash salad with summer truffles. Good but the summer truffles were not giving off any aroma what so ever. We both got the Papparedelle with roasted chanterelles. This was my favorite of the night. A perfect portion size and just a mess of lemony, buttery, mushroom goodness. Worth going back for alone. I can definitely say this place is in my top 5 Atlanta restaurants and I will be going back over and over. You should check it out if you have not already.

I agree one bazillion percent. Floataway has always been very consistant with it’s expertly prepared fresh ingredients. I have never had any dissapointments (other than I can’t go as much as I’d like to). The staff is so very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Floataway should be on everyone’s top five list.

I love this place also. Since our last chat I finally posted some local and restaurant reviews on my site. Take a look when you have time.

This restaurant is fabulous. I have been there many times over the past few years and have enjoyed every experience! My favorite is the hanger steak. They also have marvelous seasonal soups. The whole experience is amazing. I wish I could go more often!
