RESTAURANT REVIEW
Oh, I have some serious catching up to do! I completely forgot to post about our dessert at The Chocolate Bar after our delicious meal at Cakes & Ale. I have been here before sans camera, but had it with me this time around. Such a great little spot and so unique. I remember going to The Dessert Place in Buckhead often before it closed and it has been a while since Atlanta had a dessert-centric restaurant like this (unless you count Intermezzo which is not in T.C.B.’s league). Fabulous service, very innovative menu and a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There are savory items on the menu as well, but I come here for the desserts. I am also a fan of the locally made chocolate in the case which you can enjoy as part of your meal or take home in cute chocolate (of course) brown box. We had the swoon-worthy passion fruit creme brulee and the caramel ganache with chocolate sorbet and chocolate sponge cake (pictured above). Just great desserts overall and it is no wonder that chef Aaron Russell received a nomination for a 2008 James Beard Award.

Some of the best and definitely the most interesting desserts I have had in Atlanta were at Chocolate Bar. The drinks are also fantastic, but these guys are really creative with their desserts. I can barely described the blackberry dessert I had there last year, but I know it was one of the best desserts I have ever had anywhere.

This place has the BEST curried popcorn and their ‘Oreo’ dessert is actually gluten free. There are actually no Oreos it…what a rare treat for someone like me who has Celiac.
