RESTAURANT REVIEW:
I’d been craving a burger for a very long while. I hit a milestone on my diet so I decided to reward myself for being so good. A friend had told me that Cheyenne Grill had his favorite burger in Atlanta. As luck would have it, I was on assignment close to the restaurant. So, I popped in for an early lunch on Friday. The place is your basic sports bar with plenty of sports porn for the fanatic.

I went straight to the extensive burger menu and selected the burger with bacon, lettuce, tomato and sharp cheddar. I opted for their homemade potato chips instead of fries. The place got full very quickly and my waitress (and the kitchen) got overwhelmed. It probably took me 30 minutes to get my burger, but I found plenty of entertainment in watching a handful of barflies drinking way too early in the morning.

When my burger finally came, it looked scrumptious but my chips were missing–they’d given me fries by mistake. My waitress, who was very sweet, quickly remedied the situation and I tucked into my lunch. The burgers have hand-formed patties that average over a half a pound of certified Angus beef. The meat was cooked to my specifications and had a nice smoky flavor imparted from the grill. Definitely not a fast food burger. My only complaint would be the bun. It fell apart easily and I ended up eating most of my meal with a fork and knife. It was still pretty good. The chips, however, were stellar. Thick, long and very crisp without a drop of oil. The dipping sauce was kind of bland, but the chips didn’t need it.

Verdict: Not the best restaurant burger in Atlanta, but still a solid choice if you are in the area. The chips are worth the trip alone. There are all-you-can-eat wings on Sundays. For what it is worth, the restaurant did recognize how long I had waited (I didn’t say a word or indicate any distress) and tried to comp my meal. I paid anyway. But, it was nice that they did realize that the service was off on this particular day. I would go back and try another burger.

This place is my favorite Atlanta sports bar. The management is top notch and usually the servers are fantastic.

It can get very crowded for big events, NFL, MMA, etc. Love their wings, they are so authentic that the local transplants from Buffalo will come in for them.
