Udipi Cafe: Decatur

For those of us not native to India, navigating the intricacies of the country’s regional cuisines and dining customs can be intimidating. Exploration and discovery, however, are two of the most satisfying aspects of being a curious eater. Mouthful: Tortas

Believe it or not, there’s more to Mexican street food than tasty tacos. Mexicans also make one mean and memorable sandwich, commonly referred to as a torta. Tortas are served on a bolillo (a crusty roll with a soft interior) and filled with a variety of meats and other traditional Mexican ingredients such as creamy avocado, pickled jalapeño peppers and refried beans. Whiskey Park: Midtown
WHERE: The newly renovated W Atlanta Midtown, which has become one of our city’s most high-profile locales, with outposts of the New York-based Bliss spa and the cuisine of chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

THE PRETENSE: While we love the notion of luxury bars, Whiskey Park simply tries too hard to be chic and doesn’t deliver. A bouncer guards the entrance with a velvet rope even when the bar is completely empty.
