Cheap Eats: Desserts By Latrell

Menia Chester is a little hesitant to discuss the details of her new bakery, Desserts By Latrell (581 Edgewood Ave., 678-705-3409, When asked if she could tell me about the ingredients in her strawberry cake, Chester simply said, “No.” How about the type of chocolate she uses in her chocolate frosting? Mouthful: Reubens

MUSS & TURNER’S: In a departure from its predominantly homemade ways, M&T’s “Reason to Reuben” uses pre-brined corned beef brisket from New York State National Brand for authenticity’s sake, which they then cook on site. Click here to read the rest…

WHERE NOBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME: Sometimes you just need to hide out in the dark corner of a seedy bar where there is no chance of running into anyone you know and drown your sorrows in a stiff drink (or three). Sorry but I think we part ways on Muss and Turner…

I collect Reubens and on the strength of your review took a friend last week to M&T to check it out. I had the Reuben, she had the Turkey Reuben (with 1kisland, not even vaguely a Reuben), we each had a beer.

The food was fine, but I like more 'kraut on my Reuben. The problem was value. I paid $39 before tip. They bring the alcohol and food to your table, but you get your own napkin, silverware, water (plastic cup) and bus your table.

The quality is a shade inconsistent, but Euclid Ave YC still has my allegiance for best Reuben in ATL.
