RESTAURANT REVIEW:
Well, I was on my way back from an early morning trip to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market. I was hungry and thought Indian would be a good choice since I was in the heart of Decatur. I decided to try Bollywood Masala. They are owned by the same people that own Madras Saravana Bhavan. I walked in and waited…and waited…and waited for someone to come help me. I waited for 10 minutes as I watched the owner casually chatting on the phone. I finally decided to help myself and went to check out the food at the buffet. I am not really into buffets of any kind but thought I might be able to deduce something about the quality of the restaurant. It looked reasonably good. I decided to take it to go. I finally got the owner’s attention and ordered my standards…Seekh Kabab, Saag Paneer and Nan. I watched the owner go get my Saag Paneer from the buffet. My heart sank. You think they’d make you a fresh batch for $8.50! I got my order and proceeded to my car only to realize that my kababs were missing. The owner ran out with the rest of my order. I got home and went to town on it. It was just miserable. The garlic nan had burnt piece of garlic which were unpleasant. I didn’t finish my nan which is a serious indication that something was wrong. The Saag was so salty I couldnt eat it. The paneer seemed fresh but the flavor was off. The kababs were dry and under-seasoned. I don’t know why so many people like this place. I might give it another shot while dining but my first visit left a bad taste in my mouth.

Bollywood is an Amercanized version of Indian fare, something our server proudly announced during my two visits.

    I wasn’t impressed…

I don’t recommend this place. I’ve only gone because MBV was crowded… I woudn’t bother returning… Have you been to Zyka down the road?
