Bliss cooks: Cake pops

As I have said before, I am no baker. However, Valentine’s Day was around the corner and I was tasked with bringing something holiday specific to a theme party. I got the brilliant idea to bake something from scratch and decided this would be the day I finally made Bakerella’s Cake pops. With lowered expectations, I followed the directions in her cute instructional video and hoped for the best.


I made mine with Devil’s food cake and chocolate frosting and decorated with all sorts of V-day sprinkles I found at Target. Not too shabby for my first time, eh?

I even wrapped them in bags, tied them with ribbon and put them in this handy dandy display thing I found for $3 at Michael’s, which is also where I bought the sticks and candy melts.

I’d definitely recommend her recipe–she also has a whole book about cake pops–when you want to do something a little different and whimsical for a party. I am even thinking of making her Hello Kitty pops for Junior’s upcoming birthday. Could I be turning into a baker? Nah. I’ll stick to cooking, but this was a fun diversion.
