Another must-order at Tasty China…

Moonie and I were headed out of town so we stopped at Tasty China for a quick lunch. The standout was the the pork dumplings in chili oil (pictured above after we attacked it). We asked for the kitchen to go light on the oil and were wowed by the broth–especially after I hit it with a tad of soy because the salt was a little light. The broth had finely ground peppercorns, minced red chiles and other stuff I could not place. I could not stop ladling it into my bowl even though we had more food coming.  Fiery and crave-worthy.

We also ordered the Shan City chicken (boneless), which is much juicier than it has been in the past–just wonderful. This place is really at the top of its game again. Have I mentioned that you should go now?

    OMG – Shan City chicken. I had that for lunch a month or so ago and felt like I was in the dentist chair from the Sichuan pepper numbing sensation going on in my mouth. Delicious!

    That is because Peter Chang is back in the kitchen except on Tuesdays. I work a mile from there and it is dangerous.

    Anon: Where did you hear about Chang? I’d heard that he visited T.C. the other day, but chef Liu has been cooking every time I’ve been there lately.
