A quick look at Pura Vida’s brunch

We went to check out the brunch at Pura Vida last weekend and were pleased overall. The menu has lots of interesting dishes–the eggs were our favorite out of everything we ordered. Despite a few seasoning glitches, we found it to be one of the most interesting brunches around town and the prices were not that bad for what you get. Service was great as usual. I will definitely be back.

Does anybody else find it a little strange that they have a hair salon in the back? It’s obviously associated with the restaurant, it has the same logo and it’s called El Salon.
i was at PV for brunch on Sunday. it was my favorite brunch ive had in a long time. my favorite dish was the pickled hard boiled eggs – sooo good. the bloody mary i had was great, too.
I’m pretty sure that El Salon is a private room for Pura Vida. I heard rumors that Hector was going to create a small space that would serve a chef’s menu only. I assume that’s it.
I had my hair cut at El Salon and I am pleased to report I now look quite El-egant!
Yo soy el guapo!
I have a random question – does anyone know if mexican restaurants and farmers markets are actually pulling their jalapenos? I really wanted to make mexican this week, but I’m not sure if the salmonella scare will make it impossible… thanks for any info!!
love the blog!!
confit is too salty, everything else is a 7/10 tastewise. but portions… hey, the economy’s not so good and you can eat every item on the menu and feel like you just had appetizers. so unless you’re heading over to the varsity after, go get some ‘value’.
The “salon” is a smaller dining room in the back of the house, open to allow more guests to be sat on Friday and Saturday nights. There will be a private room opening in the next several months, La Bodega
I am very excited to see what the chef does at his new spot.
