A "little" lunch at Star Provisions

Star Provisions: West Side
I’ve talked about enablers on my blog before and I had lunch with one today. My friend and I went to Star for my weekly farm stand shopping and a “little” lunch so I could counteract the effects of waaaaay too much sake last night. Said friend was just going to have a salad because he is watching his figure for some weird reason. But “just a salad” turned into a salad, a massive helping of frittata, one of these crazy good Manapua (a glazed Hawaiian sweet bun filled with tender pork bun flavored with Hoisin sauce), my ooey gooey slap-me-this-thing-is-so-freaking-awesome pastrami reuben and a big bottle of chilly sparkling water. Enablers are the best lunch buddies for gluttons.

The gorgeous Manapua

A picture of my pastrami reuben, which does not do it ANY justice. The creamy dressing slathered over the homemade pastrami and tangy kraut coupled with the buttery crunch of the bread was just plain addictive. And there was a touch childlike delight in the long strings of chewy cheese hanging from my mouth after each bite. Delicious insanity.

We took advantage of Star’s new indoor seating (pictured above) where you can also order a little glass of wine along with your meal. Such a nice way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon minus the heat and the company was just as delicious as the meal. Be sure to check out the cheese section while you are there. Tim has a killer fresh ricotta in stock that I intend to slather on some pizzas this weekend.

Star Provisions never fails in the sandwich department. By the way, great quote – “Enablers are the best lunch buddies for gluttons.
