Nothing weird about it; I always buy Emeril’s products.
Look at that face! That’s a man that can be trusted.

I would say that the Spongebob Edamame I saw at the Dekalb Farmer’s Market is weirder…

This is Marketing 101. Take someone well liked and well known, slap them on a related product, and make a ton of cash.
Or do you think Paul Newman was some kind of gourmet? Come on…clue in.

Paul Newman’s name was a good deal of pull — but I also buy his products because most of his proceeds go to charity 🙂
I doubt Spongebob Edamame is doing the same.

Most people (with you as an exception, not the rule) have no idea that Newman’s money is going to charity. And who cares? They buy his products because they are good. They are priced on the VERY high end and marketed as natural (well before this was “cool”, btw). If Emeril’s tomatoes or Spongebobs Edamae are of high quality and priced right they will sell. If the money goes to a good cause so much the better.
Next time you walk down a supermarket aisle check out what is going on with Rachel Ray—she is everywhere!
I suspect for Emeril this venture will have more success than his actual cooking has had in cities like Atlanta where his place is R.I.P.

i can’t stand this guy! he’s constantly pronouncing foods wrong and giving bad advice on simple cooking rules. if these tamaters are anything like his recipes – they’re probably made up of 30 or more ingredients. Don’t forget the E.V.O.O., suckas!

Regardless of the show the man preaches freshness.
